House-a-palooza

Well...

WE GOT A HOUSE :) :) :)

Pending inspections and what not of course.

This is a house we looked at when we very first started looking around with Kathy. We were a little put off about some work they had done in the basement and it kind of got forgotten about through all the many, many, MANY houses we've looked at. Jeff remembered it again on Sunday and asked if I wanted to drive by it and I said sure. We went by it and it was having an open house at the same time and we went in to refresh our memories. We remember loving the upstairs and being uncertain about the basement. We looked around the upstairs and still loved it. We went downstairs and it wasn't as bad as our memories made us think. It is unfinished but could be finished easily. We started talking about and we had my parents come over to the open house and look at it as well. They seemed to dig it (minus the fact that it's a Hartland home--mom :)-- but still). Since they were interested we had Jeff's parents come down for a private showing with Kathy that evening. They seemed to be in to it as well. We talked a bit about it and decided that we should make an offer!!

Yesterday we met with our mortgage officer at 5ish to make sure everything was in line and ready to go for us to make an offer. Everything was good to go. We called Kathy after cause she wanted to talk to us and get an offer going if we were interested. She had a showing at the time we called (about 5:30ish) that ended up turning into the couple wanting to write an offer as well. Kathy didn't want us to go home without writing one as well so we stayed at mom and dad's until 9:30 when we met with her at her office. That's right 9:30 PM. It took a long time but we got everything squared away and we submitted our offer at around 11:20ish. They had until 6pm today to respond.

This morning Jeff called during the 10 o'clock hour asking me to meet him at his work. Kathy had called with the counter-offer and we talked about it a bit. We counter-offered back for a little more than what we originally offered. About an hour later (in which time I went to the bank and talked to a personal banker, went to talk to our mortgage officer, and went to register Jeff's car at the DMV-- all done within 45 minutes-- I'm awesome) Kathy called back with the seller's counter-offer. Their offer was either paying what we asked without the home warranty thing that Kathy wanted us to have or to pay for the warranty at an extra 500 bucks. We took the offer of them paying for it because we would have got in regardless and so it's saving us at least 100 dollars. So at around noonish today we told Kathy we accept!

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So long as everything works out, we will close October 6th (Tuesday). Now I get to do fun things like picking out paint and deciding where to put everything. We will have some empty space in the house for a while but eventually we will have to furnish the rooms or we'll have kids some time and then it will fill up a bit :) We are really really excited and I know since information travels quickly in my family-- it would be easiest to post it here so everyone gets the basic story!!

Mom'll be mad she didn't know sooner since she has her grad assistant stuff until 7 tonight. Haha.

Just some quick basic facts about it:

-3 bedrooms
-1.75 bath
-large backyard
-closest large cross streets are 84th and Old Cheney
-all appliances stay
-currently the schools are Maxey, Lux, East (YAY!)
-unfinished basement
-2 car garage
-approx 1200 square feet

You can see some pictures of the place here:
