Just Some Funny Things

Jeff sent me an e-mail forward of "Random Thoughts" and I thought a lot of them were hilarious. I will post some of them on here with my own little commentary on them!

Random Thoughts of the Day:

More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think
about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own
story that's not only better, but also more directly involves me.

-Unless it's family. But yes, I do do this.

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize
you're wrong.

-That's the worst part. Especially when you KNOW you're right and are fighting tooth and nail and then all of a sudden you realize you are wrong. And you try to push that back in your mind and continue fighting. It's too hard to admit that you were wrong. But then you do and you're embarrassed and still kind of fight that you were right-- but everyone knows better.

I don't understand the purpose of the line, "I don't need to drink to have fun." Great, no one does. But why start a fire with flint and sticks when they've invented the lighter?

-I like to have a good time with or without the booze. But honestly it's a whole lot easier to have fun with a group you don't really know if you have a drink. Or even with your own friends. :)

Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you're going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you're crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk.

-Been there done that. I always look at my phone like "Oh my goodness how could I have missed your call" or "Oh my gosh, my friend is just down the road in the other direction!" Can we please talk about how you wave at people you know that are across the way and then you find out that that's not who you thought it was? Or how about when you wave and call their name? Cause I've done that. And the person kind of just looked at me. I pretended to be waving and yelling at someone behind them. Embarrassing.

Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn't work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ's. We just figured it out. Today's kids are soft.

-No kidding. How did we know that? I remember Sean and myself getting frustrated with games and having to blow on them. It didn't always work.

There is a great need for sarcasm font.

-Yes, because I'm way too sarcastic for the internet. And that's the truth.

Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the hell was going on when I first saw it.

-See: Beetlejuice (crotch grabbing, curse words)

-See: Austin Powers (Holy Moley... I did not get a lot of the stuff which I thought I was. Gross. Plus I saw the second one with my mom and grandma. Good thing I didn't understand what some stuff was because man that would have been uncomfortable for an eighth grader.)

I think everyone has a movie that they love so much, it actually becomes stressful to watch it with other people. I'll end up wasting 90 minutes shiftily glancing around to confirm that everyone's laughing at the right parts, then making sure I laugh just a little bit harder earlier to prove that I'm still the only one who really, really gets it.

-Jeff doesn't like movies I do. So when he finally relents and watches one with me I'm really happy but it is stressful! I always look over at him to see his expressions and whether or not he's enjoying himself. It would probably be easier if I just didn't make him watch them.

I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

-Living on the third floor of my apartment makes me incredibly thoughtful in terms of groceries. I know which arm is the strongest and can hold the most bags. My left arm is stronger and can carry about 7 bags, my right arm can carry about 5. I'm way too lazy and/or hard headed to make a second trip. Same goes with traveling bags.

The only time I look forward to a red light is when I'm trying to finish a text.

-That or when you are trying to write something down.

A recent study has shown that playing beer pong contributes to the spread of mono and the flu. Yeah, if you suck at it.

-Beer pong is disgusting and if you do play it, play with water in the cups. Not beer.

Lol has gone from meaning, "laugh out loud" to "I have nothing else to say".

-Can't argue with that. 100% true.

I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

-My current goal in life haha.

How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear what they said?

-This is me. I think I've had some hearing loss and I CANNOT hear people any more. The worst is when we are out at crowded places. I have to look at their lips and try and put the sounds and movements together. It's terrible. And then people get frustrated and say, "nevermind" which makes me upset that I can't hear and I'm making it hard for others. Grr. So it's easier to nod usually. Jeff is the same way. We will be an interesting old couple

Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

-It's kind of morbid but true. I love reading the obituaries but Lincolns aren't fun to read. In Norman they put how they die sometimes and that's always interesting.

Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

-Jeans never get dirty, unless you spill on them or they stretch out too much :)

Whenever I'm Facebook stalking someone and I find out that their profile is public I feel like a kid on Christmas morning who just got the Red Ryder BB gun that I always wanted. 546 pictures? Don't mind if I do!

-As sad as it is, it is true too. I always look at random people's pictures. Creepy? Probably. Interesting? Yes!

You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you've made up your mind that you just aren't doing anything productive for the rest of the day.

-See: the blogs from this past spring.

I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

-Yes it is scary. Especially when you've been working on a paper and had about 6 of the 10 or so pages done. You have saved it. You go to close out and you don't save because you have made no changes since the last save. But, OH! when you go to open it again you only have 2 pages. WHAT?! Been there.

"Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this ever.

-Tru dat

I hate being the one with the remote in a room full of people watching TV. There's so much pressure. 'I love this show, but will they judge me if I keep it on? I bet everyone is wishing we weren't watching this. It's only a matter of time before they all get up and leave the room. Will we still be friends after this?'

-Maybe not to this extent but it is stressful. I always give up the remote so that I can think things about the show/person who chose whatever is on, rather than people thinking those thoughts about me. haha

I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring , but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

- I just thought this one was funny

I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

-True. But it's even worse not getting all good looking and then having to go out unexpectedly and then running into everyone.

I like all of the music in my iTunes, except when it's on shuffle, then I like about one in every fifteen songs in my iTunes.

-I love all my music but while traveling to Montana and through South Dakota I skipped probably through 5-10 songs before finding one I wanted to listed to.

As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists.

-And the fact that they have their own street lane downtown. What IS that?! No one knows how to drive on those streets because the cyclist gets the middle lane. LAME.

Even if I knew your social security number, I wouldn't know what do to with
it.

-Yeah, ditto.

Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet my ass everyone can find and push the Snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time every time...

-HELLO FRESHMAN YEAR! A roommate of mine did this ev-er-y-day! She had the top bunk and would sprint up and hit snooze on her alarm across the room. She did this (not even exaggerating) at least 4 times a morning. She didn't seem to notice she had two other roommates trying to sleep at the same time. One time I told her just to set her alarm for the time she wanted to get up at the latest. She didn't listen. That was a long semester

I wonder if cops ever get pissed off at the fact that everyone they drive behind obeys the speed limit.

- I would. Those people make me mad. I never do that. I've passed cops that have been going too slow.

I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lites than Kay.

-In college, yes. Except substitute the Miller Lite for Busch Light.

So I just thought I would comment on some of those in the e-mail. They were funny and I could relate to a lot of them.
